Blog Goals for 2016

This year was the year that I started blogging more ‘seriously’ and took a break and started blogging again and this cycle occurred a few times but hopefully 2016 will be the year where I blog continuously for the entire year.

 THE NUMBERS

Blog – I currently have 383 followers but I’m aiming for at least 500 by the end of 2016
Twitter – I recently made myself a twitter and have 107 followers but aim for 250
Instagram – currently have 1403 followers but am aiming for 2,000, this is very doable as I’ve realized that the better quality photos I have, the more followers I achieve
Tumblr – I made a Tumblr recently too. I had a personal Tumblr for about 3 years but I deleted that one and started afresh. I try to post daily on it and have about 17 followers but aim for 50
Pinterest – I have 4 followers on Pinterest but I am 20. I’ve realized the key is to just ‘pin’ items

PERSONAL GOALS

  • Improve on my photos – I’ve come a long way since I started blogging last year but I know I can do a lot better than I’m currently doing
  • Try to blog more often at least every 2-3 days – with work and uni, I’m constantly busy but if I can make some time for five episodes of Malcolm In The Middle in a row, then I can make time for blogging more often too
  • Start saving my money – I do a lot of frivolous spending and seriously need to get a grip on my finances otherwise I’ll be poor every time payday comes
  • Start commenting more on blog posts – whilst I do read a lot of blog posts, I rarely comment simply due to laziness and I need to start sharing the love and commenting more on posts I read
What goals have you set yourself for 2016?

Some Makeup Bits

This past month I have been treating myself, and picking up a few bargains (mostly the latter). After this mini haul, I will be going on another makeup ban until January so I can save my pretty pennies unless I happen to go into a Tkmaxx by chance obviously.

The first product I picked up was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette. This retails for a hefty £65 so I had to make sure I definitely wanted this and was going to use this. I read countless of reviews on this stating that the palette was really smaller but to be honest I found it a lot bigger than I expected it to be. This may have been because of the reviews I had been reading that I had expected it to be teeny tiny. Temptalia’s detailed review included some calculations which showed that the palette wasn’t worth it money-wise. This meant that you were paying more than the actual palette is worth. I was all for this and decided to buy the blush palette and lighting palette together when I realized that the blush palette was limited edition to last year and so I couldn’t buy it. I bought the palette from Space.NK and it arrived in a few days. The shades have a lot more shimmer than I expected them to, but this doesn’t translate to the skin as much, thankfully. So far, I have used the pale yellow shade on the top left (Diffused Light) to set under my eyes and my eyelid and it’s been doing great. Another shade I’ve been using from the palette is the blush on the bottom right (Mood Exposure) which is such a beautiful shade and one that would suit most skin tones. I would say that this shade is a muted berry shade. I’ve yet to use the other shades but will report back.

This time, as you can see, I was on an eyeshadow spree (I didn’t even realize this until I took the picture). A bargain I picked up from Tkmaxx was this NARS Eyeshadow in Grenadines (I can't find this eyeshadow on NARS website so it may have been discontinued) – would you believe this cost me a tenner, saving me £8! Now this eyeshadow definitely is teeny tiny but the pigment is definitely there so it would last quite a while. It’s a raspberry shade which looks beaut on the lids and can double up as a blush too! Grenadines blends like a dream, and I’ve even ordered myself another eyeshadow in Persia! For my birthday I ever so kindly received Urban Decay’s Naked Basics 2 Palette which I love, and on Black Friday FeelUnique had the Naked Basics on sale so I obviously had to pick it up and I’m so glad I did. I can see why this palette is so raved about as the colours are so wearable and blendable. Another eyeshadow I have seen raved everywhere about was their shadow in Riff. This is a very warm brown, with slight orange hints in it and has a shimmer running through it. The shimmer doesn’t translate to much on the eyelids, which I prefer as I love my matte shadows. I’ve been obsessed with this colour ever since I’ve bought it and have been wearing it non-stop. My sister recently gave me a Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Cinderella (which are all stocked in beauty bay, by the way). This isn’t a colour I would have picked out myself as I tend to go for matte or shimmery bronze-y shades. Nevertheless, I can see myself reaching for this colour as it’s such a pretty colour which translates to just shimmers on my eyelids. I’m sure that on lighter skintones, this eyeshadow would have an actual colour pay-off but I kind of like how it shows up as just shimmers on my skintone. The last eyeshadows I bought were Make Up For Ever’s Shadows in M738 Auburn and M664 Fawn. Auburn is a red-brown shade, whereas Fawn is a orange-brown shade which compliment each other on the lids. I love how the pans are a lot bigger compared to other brands as you can see in the picture. These shadows blend like a dream too.

I own Too Faced’s Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer but it’s so close to my skintone (NC42-44) that there isn’t much pay-off to be seen so I use that for muting down and cleaning up any eyeshadow that I might be wearing. Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil Bronzer was on sale in Debenhams on black Friday so I obviously had to buy it and I’m so glad I did. This gives the most subtle contour whilst still looking natural and chiseled. Even so, I don’t know how I managed to contour with this product. Lastly I picked up two of Jeffree Star’s Liquid Lipsticks in Androgyny which is the most perfect dusty rose shade. This was originally limited edition, hence the packaging, but due to demands Jeffree announced that he will be making this permanent next February – I can’t wait!

What makeup bits have you been buying recently?

Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

last minute christmas gift guide

With Christmas just under two weeks, some of you may be panicking about what to purchase as gifts! I thought I'd gather up some of my favourite items and show you which gifts I have loved receiving (and bought myself!) to give you an idea!

First and foremost, I love how some brands do sets that contain minis of their most popular items. This is a sure way to play safe as then the gift-receiver can try out the items, without there being a risk of them not liking the item and with £20+ down the drain. Benefit do gift sets all the time. How To Look The Best at Everything is one that I received for my 19th birthday. I have it in the shade 'deep' but the set is also available in 'medium' and 'light'. This set is perfect as it covers all the bases (primer, powder, foundation and concealer) so it's good for travelling or on-the-go touch ups! One I've bought recently is their Operation Pore-Proof which contain Benefit's best items for oily skin! I'm currently trying this out but so far I am loving their Porefessional License To Blot. I was the most excited to try out their Agent Zero Shine, so I'll do a more in-depth review of this kit in a month or so when I've tried out all the products in it.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit is a limited edition palette that's exclusive to Space.NK so it's best to buy it now before they run out of stock! This palette was a lot bigger than I expected it to be and it's just so pretty! A cult classic is Too Faced's Soleil Bronzer! I have this in both Chocolate and Milk Chocolate. Milk Chocolate is almost my skin colour (NC42-44) so I use this as a crease shade. However, Chocolate is the perfect colour for contouring! In my opinion, I find the packaging a tad tacky but most people tend to love the packaging as it's slightly girly.

Urban Decay is well-know for their Naked Palettes (which I don't own and currently am not planning to). But their Naked Basics Palettes are the best! I received the Naked Basics 2 Palette for my birthday and during Black Friday last month I purchased the Naked Basics Palette. Both of these palettes are perfect for creating any looks and they're also travel-friendly! Urban Decay's Single Eyeshadows are also such great quality! I bought this shadow on Black Friday too (can you see a pattern of my spending now, lol) and although it was a bit smaller than I expected it to be, I don't regret this purchase! I love the packaging for the single shadows, and all of their eyeshadows have such great colour pay-off! The last item I've tried from Urban Decay (but not for too long, ;)) are their Matte Revolution Lipsticks. I have the shade 1993 and it's the most perfect brown-nude colour which doesn't wash me out! These lipsticks are very creamy and I mentioned this lipstick here.

Another brand that I want to try more from is Zoeva. I've only tried their Cocoa Blend Palette so far and am in love with it! Their brushes look very promising, and I've read reviews after reviews of how excellent their brushes are, so they will very soon go into my shopping basket! Two brands that have become very popular because of instagram are Gerard Cosmetics and Jeffree Star! Gerard's Lipstick in 1995 is a very unique shade but is very much on trend currently. These lipsticks do smell a bit like orange chocolate (at least in my opinion aha) but they pretty much last all day! Jeffree Star is a brand that I've been wanting to try for ages but they're always out of stock because of their popularity. I picked up two of his Liquid Lipsticks in Androgyny. The limited edition packaging is gorgeous and I can't wait to pick up more from his permanent line! Any makeup lover would, for sure, love any of these as they're just to die-for!

MAC Lipsticks are another cult-classic which I'm kind of on the fence about! Whilst I do admit that I love the shade range, I'm not keen on the formula as they can vary a lot. During the holiday period, MAC tend to release collections after collections (as if they don't already) and most makeup lovers love their lipsticks, especially if it's limited edition! They go out of stock very quickly on their website so if you are planning on buying these limited edition lipsticks for someone (or for yourself) be sure to ready so you don't miss out on them

Last, but not least, is a brand that I have recently fallen in love with: NARS. Their packaging is so simple yet chic and, in my opinion, they're underrated. Although I secretly love how they're underrated as then their products don't go out of stock that fast and there's more for us! A cult-classic is their Laguna Bronzer which is raved about everywhere and anywhere! It's the most perfect contour shade for most skin tones. NARS even released a bigger version of this with a tiny ITA Brush called the Tahiti Bronzer. The bigger version is definitely worth the money but I hope NARS created a bigger version of Casino soon! This bronzer doesn't suit me unfortunately as it's a bit too light for me. I could layer it up, but I'm too lazy to do that all the time so I much prefer Casino which is crazy pigmented! They recently bought out a collection with Steven Klein which can be purchased from feelunique and NARS. The palette that I have (pictured) is their One Shocking Moment Palette which can only be purchased from NARS and Space.NK. This palette has a few blush shades, a contour and highlight shade, and a bronzer too, meaning that it's well worth the money and will definitely make the receiver happy!

What do you hope to get this Christmas?

October Favourites

This month has shot by so fast, it doesn't even feel like it even happened.

In my NARS Blame It On Nars Palette, I received the NARS Ita Brush, which is the mini vrsion and soo cute, and I have been using it non-stop, especially paired with my NARS Casino Bronzer. Using these two together, cuts the time I take to contour in half! I talked more about the NARS Casino Bronzer hereAnother perfect couple is the Wilkos Foundation Brush and Maybelline's Matte Maker Mattifying Powder which both set my undereyes perfectly, making sure it dosn't crease whatsoever, whilst highlighting my undereyes too. I have hereditary dark circles, and these two perfectly conceal them (obviously when using concealer too).

Essence's Silky Touch Blush in 70 Kissable is a gorgeous mauve-y pink shade that I love using as I feel that these kind of colours suit my skintone a lot and look very natural on me. This blush looks even more beautiful on. When applying my blush, I'm currently loving the Real Techniques Cheek Brush from Nic's Picks, as it picks up just the right amount of product. From the same set, I've also been loving the Duo-Fibre Face Brush for applying my face powder with throughout the day as I have oily skin and have to mattify my face, especially my t-zone. As this brush is duo-fibre, it makes it easier for myself not to cake on the powder, as that is quite easy to do usually especially when I'm having to constantly top up my powder. The last two brushes I have been loving are eBay's Kabuki Round Top and Angled Brushes which I have been loving for my Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation recently. The brushes buff in my foundation so well and makes it look skin like. Likewise with the foundation, it lasts all day and looks super natural, however it is currently a bit too dark for me, so I'm just (im)patiently waiting for the shade down to be in stock.

This month, I have been using Carmex in the tube form religiously, and now I wake up with super soft lips which are nowhere near as dry as they used to be a few months ago. I highly recommend this product to everyone as it's super easy to apply throughout the day. Soap and Glory's Supercat Eyeliner took a while for me to get used to as I've used liquid eyeliner for about 5 or so years now, but this eyeliner is really good as it doesn't budge once it sets. It's also super easy to remove, which I like about it too. The reason I bought this was because my liquid eyeliner was continously getting on my eyelashes, as I was applying it and it irritated me as it would dry at the beginning of my lashes. But I don't have this problem with Soap and Glory's Supercat Eyeliner

I have really been into nail polishes recently and Essence's Gel Nail Polish in 48 My Love Diary has not come off my nails whatsoever this month. It's a gorgeous slightly pink-y shade that looks really natural and chic. This month, I have really been into wearing fake nails and Nailene's Ultra Precise Nail Glue is the best nail glue I have used so far. My nails last at least 2-3 weeks with this nail glue as it really does 'stick' the face nails to my actual nails.  A new purchase for me, and new love, has been Biore's Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser as it removes the very last of my makeup (even waterproof mascara!) and leaves my skin feeling oh soft.

What have you been loving this month?

The Birthday Post

I turned 19 three days ago (28th October) and this year I decided to do a 'birthday week' rather than a 'birthday' as usually not everyone is free on my birthday and I love having things to look forward to over a span of a few days.

My 'birthday week' actually started on the 25th where my family ordered some cake and my sister made roast chicken and veg with some yorkshire pudding, which I absolutely love. My sister gave me my present that day, which I will talk more about after.

On the Monday, I had uni until 6 which was very boring and I came home to an emoji pillow on my bed, which is very soft and I'm currently resting my head on it as I'm typing this. I went to a restaurant after, Irmak Grill which sells Turkish food, yum.  For starters, I had some turkish bread which tastes even better with some garlic sauce. Then I ordered myself Chicken shish which is chargrilled chicken with salad (which I didn't eat) and I opted for some chips with it. It was soo delicious and much better than Lamb Shish I had a few weeks back. For dessert, I had warm chocolate fudge cake with some ice cream!

On Tuesday, I had uni again until 4 but then I went out to another restaurant that's recently opened up where I live: Downtown Dessert. I chose meat lasagne with chips and onion rings. The meat lasagne had the perfect amount of spice for me; I could feel the spicy-ness of it but it wasn't so spicy that I was chugging down water after lol. The sauce that came with my meal was sweet chilli, which was just sweet so I didn't like that at all. For dessert, I ordered a waffle with strawberries, whipped cream, ice cream and chocolate. It was mouth-wateringly tasty!

On Wednesday (my actual birthday), I went cinemas with my nephew and sister. We watched Hotel Transylvania 2 which i was super excited to watch, and I was not disappointed. I recommend the movie to everyone because it was soo good. I really want to watch the first now lol. After that, I bought a subway which was so yum.

Onto my actual presents now, I was planning on doing just a post on my birthday presents but then thought that it would be more interesting if I talked about everything I did. I did purchase some items for myself, but some of them are yet to arrive so I'll do a post of what I bought for myself when they do arrive.

My brother bought me the NARS Virtual Domination Palette as an early birthday present, back in August, which I've talker more about here.

I received a Benefit How To Look The Best At Everything in Deep, I've only used the Boi-ing Concealer in Shade 4 so far but I love how it feels on my skin so far. I've been after the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Palette for so long now, and was soo happy when I received this. I've only used the last three shades ('cover', 'primal' and 'undone') so far, but they blend like a dream! My sister also gifted me the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and Benefit's Hoola Bronzer which I'm still yet to use. She also gave me Smashbox's Photo Finish foundation Primer which I used on my birthday and i'm currently liking at the moment.

My sister also gave me Ted Baker's Slim Bow Pencil Case which I'll use to store my makeup in if I go out of town for the day and Ted Baker's Slim Bow Small Wash Bag which I'll use for holidays. I also recieved an Armani Jeans Purse which I was so shocked to receive, especially since I only just got given a purse for my last birthday. I'm going to be saving this purse for special occasions, days out and holidays.

Five Things Friday #2

I've finally come back with a second edition of this segment on my blog. I was going to post one last Friday, but I didn't have enough products or 'things' to talk about so I didn't.

As mentioned in this post, I bought the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer which keeps me oh so matte especially when paired with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder that I apply with the Real Tehnique's Powder Brush. Some shine does come through at the end of the day (after about 5-6 hours), if that. So I recommend this primer and powder duo to all my oily-skin people!

I've also been loving the Beauty Blender recently. Whilst this does blend in your foundation, I feel like this little sponge is actually better for mattifying your skin too! Wherever a bit (or a lot in my case) of shine comes through, I just dab the sponge over that area and instantly the shine goes away!

I finally got around to buying Urban Decay's De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray and I've got to say that this version is a lot better than the original spray. I stay matte for all day now, even when I'm feeling a bit hot from sitting in my lecture room for nearly two hours lol.

What have you been loving this week?

NARS X Steven Klein Collection

Last Wednesday, my NARS order finally arrived and I was excited; well actually my sister was the most excited as I had ordered one of her birthday presents and she couldn't wait to see it and literally stared for a while at how beautiful it was.

The first thing that went into my basket was the NARS One Shocking Moment Palette and it's actually a lot bigger than I expected it to be, to be honest. It contains Paloma which is a Contour Blush, and I'm quite excited to see how this fairs on my skin. Next to that is Laguna which is one of the most raved about products in the blogosphere. In this palette, you receive 0.5g more than the normal sized pans so it's quite good value for the £49 I paid for this palette. However, I don't like Laguna as much as I like Casino. But with my tan gradually taking its time to fade away, this may suit me. Onto the blushes! The first on the left is Robotic which is exclusive to the palette. I'd say that this shade is pink is a bit on the warm side and is quite pale, so even though I won't use this shade as much, I would use it unlike Sex Fantasy in the Virtual Domination Palette which I'm still trying to make it work for me. Blasphemy is a gorgeous pink blush that's slightly mauve-y and I'll know that I will get some use out of this colour. Luster is an orange-y brown blush that's more on the brown side.  This is a blush that would look amazing on nearly all skintones. Finally Dolce Vita is the blush that I was most excited about. I wanted to buy the singular size of this but didn't want to spend about £23 on just a blush, so I thought that this way it would be more cost effective as I rarely, if ever, hit pan on blushes. Dolce Vita is a mauve-y dusty rose colour. I can see this colour quickly becoming one of my favourites!

The second item I purchased was the A Woman's Face Neutral Lip SetIt included a lipstick in  Dolce Vita but it was too sheer for my liking so I'm selling it unfortunately. The set also included a mini Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Lip Pencil.  This contains 1.8g of product, whereas a normal size contains 2.4g, so this mini contains quite a lot of product. Unlike the lipstick, the velvet matte lip pencil suits me and is a 'my lips but better' shade. I don't like how you can't twist the product up but instead have to sharpen it. The last item in this set was a Velvet Lip liner in Patong Beach. This colour is so flattering on my skintone and I'm so glad I picked this set up, as usually it's quite hard for me to find nude lip colours that work for me.

I think, if it's still in stock in November/December, then I may pick myself up the Despair Palette aswell, as all the blush shades appeal to me and I wouldn't mind another baby Ita Kabuki brush.

What did you pick up from this collection?

Some of these makeup brush sets are limited edition, so be sure to snap them up before they're gone forever! I've got my eye on the Zoeva Rose Golden Set, Zoeva Rose Golden Vol. 2 Set, Real Techniques' Travel Essentials as I really like the Multi Task Brush but they don't sell it separately, and their Duo Fibre Collection. Oh, and Real Techniques is a lot cheaper to buy from the actual website when you convert the dollar to the pound. Post and packaging is also very low as it's dependant on the weight, plus there's no custom charge if the item costs less than £15! I've actually saved around £20 by ordering two sets from the website, rather than from Boots which kinda was a struggle as I do love receiving Boots points.

Will you be purchasing any of these brush sets?

NARS Casino Bronzer

Earlier on this week, a parcel arrived for me. In it, was NARS Casino Bronzer. To say that I was excited for this product is an absolute understatement as I've been lusting after this particular bronzer for half a year. As mentioned here, my brother ever so kindly gifted me the NARS Virtual Domination Palette, which was unfortunately exclusive to the holiday season last year, as an early birthday present. It contained Laguna, which I'm on the fence about (yet again). I love how I can build up this bronzer but dislike how I have to build it up as it takes some time for it to show on my skin. I honestly thought that I'd be contented with Laguna and wouldn't care for Casino anymore, but quite the opposite occurred.

nars casino bronzer, nars casino bronzer review, nars casino bronzer dark skin, nars casino bronzer review dark skin, nars casino v laguna, nars casino bronzer v laguna

After seeing that I could get some student discount on this bronzer (thanks, unidays), I quickly snapped up Casino. When it arrived I was quite amazed as to how big it was. For some reason, I was expecting it to be smaller but for £27.50 (well, £24.75) you receive a whopping 8g of product which I'm sure will last me a very long time! The packaging is typical NARS and I love how simple it is, yet chic. One thing that does irk me is how quickly the packaging becomes dirty; I've only used it a fair few times and it's already got fingerprint marks and smudges on it. But it's nothing a wipe won't sort out!

This is a lot darker than Laguna, and slightly more shimmer-y I'd say. It is more on the warmer side so can appear slightly orange if not careful. I've only used this to contour with so far (which it's fab at, if I do say so myself), but I'm yet to try bronzing with it. The pigmentation of this bronzer is intense and I'm seriously not exaggerating. I decided to try this out when I was at home, incase I did end up looking crazy and didn't have enough time to fix it. I'm sure glad I did as I instantly turned most of my (non-existent) cheekbones and the rest of my cheeks a brown-y orange colour. This was because I tapped my brush in the bronzer twice. On my other cheek, I used the bare minimum and it looked soo gorgeous! I can tell that this is going to last me a very long time! The bronzer was quite easy to blend out though, which I like.

I recommend this bronzer to any and everyone. But I'd say that if you do have slightly lighter or pale skin, that you'd have to use this bronzer with a very light hand and blend a lot!

Have you tried this bronzer? What are your thoughts on it?

Autumn/Winter Beauty Swaps - Madison Victoria

Hello my name is Maddie and I come from a little blog with a small community across the pond called Madison Victoria x (www.bloglovin.com/blogs/madison-victoria-x-13548613) and last week I approached Nazia due to being an avid follower of Nazia's blog. Nazia and myself had a few ideas but today chose to do our Autumn Beauty swaps which means to talk through all the items I swap around in my makeup as we transition into one of my favourite seasons; Autumn.

One of the first products I swap is my base as in the Summer I wear a variety of bases from a light base like the Bourjois CC Cream to a more heavy coverage like the Max Factor Face Finity Foundation that claims to include primer, foundation and concealer although I still pop a primer underneath and a concealer over the top especially when you have bags like mine. This base gives more of a matte finish due to its oil absorbency qualities which is a god send for us oily girls and stays on for the majority of the day without many touch ups.

Second of all I have my Maybelline Fit Me concealer with its sleek packaging and Nars creamy consistency. One of this concealers claims is that it is supposed to have a translucent base meaning that the natural highs and lows of your skin although I do not notice this property it does make my skin look fresher without highlighting my problem areas. Maybelline have made this concealer so it has even, natural and breathable qualities meaning that it is suitable for even sensitive and blemish prone skin. This concealer claims to fix all problem areas be it blemishes or redness it conceals with a bit of extra help from your base.
Another base product that I change in my make-up bag is my bronzer as in the Summer I tend to stay away from my bronzers as I have a natural Summer glow but when it enters the Autumn months. I grab a bronzer that makes me look a bit more alive and less dead as I lose my summer tan. The bronzer I love is the Benefit Hoola Bronzer due to its warm tones that give me a natural glow. Its glow means I don't look overly tanned and look like an orange snowman but gives me more of a just landed from Spain glow. I dust it in a three shape to give my face a bit more structure and warmth.

Changing from the shimmery light pinks I transition in to the warm berry tones and this Creme Puff Blush is prefect in the shade Gorgeous Berries. The pigmentation is quite strong so when applying do it with a gentle hand to prevent over doing it. This berry toned blush can give a flush of colour in winter months and give the desired just been out in the snow look and goes perfectly with that black thick scarf you have hidden in the back of your wardrobe as the winter and autumn months approach.

Moving on to the eyes I change from the champagne shimmer bases to darker shaded eyeshadow sticks and cream shadows. One I recently picked up is the Kiko Cosmetics Long Lasting Shadow Stick in 05. This shadow has a complex colour with a hint of brown but has a purple and rosy tone as well. The shadows claim to be waterproof but I am unable to comment on this because even though I encounter rain a lot in the UK I haven't had time to test it out. Although the pigmentation is fab and it has a long lasting power and even when you get towards the end of the day and start rubbing your eyes the colour does not budge with a hint of shimmer running all the way through.

Another eye product I retrieve from my make-up collection in the Autumn months is the original Naked Palette (although the Smoky one looks great for this time of the year). With a range of shades from pink tones to deep shades including browns, greys, taupes and blacks. This palette has a range of finishes including matte, satin, sparkle and shimmery which makes it possible to create a wide range of looks from smoky eyes to simple everyday looks. Each eyeshadow, except for a few champagne and pink toned shades, have perfect pigmentation with a long lasting power so you can create looks in a small amount of time and have them last all day, which is great when you want that extra ten minutes in bed.

Lastly I change my lip shades from a light pink Chanel shade to quite a dark and nude shade of lipgloss from Urban Decay. This lipgloss claims to be ultra nourishing; however, I find them slightly sticky when you apply to much. They have a creamy texture with an exceptional high gloss finish which as I said may result in a bit of sickness so it might be worth staying out of the wind. It is great to put on to tie any look together or just need a quick and easy look for when you are running late in the morning. Although if I want a more bold lip colour which is more than likely in the Autumn/ Winter months and with a matte finish it is perfect to create that bold lip look. With fab pigmentation and has a velvety and satin application meaning that it lasts a good time whether you be eating, talking or just going around your normal life and it needs very few touch ups, if any.

That is it! I hope you enjoyed this post and swim across to my side of the pond and have a bit of a look around. I was wondering if you have any products you swap in for in the Autumn/ Winter months?

Wishlist #6

Vegan makeup brush, £48 / Mac cosmetic / Ardell false eyelash, £18 / Ardell false eyelash, £11 / Too Faced Cosmetics mascara, £7.77 / NARS Cosmetics lip liner, £17 / ZOEVA - Gesichtspinsel - 109 - Luxe Face Paint - bei douglas.de, £9.55 / 105 Luxe Highlight, £9.41

I always make lists of everything as they just make me feel more organised as I tick the items/chores/tasks as I go along. I have a wishlist of all the items I really want to buy (probably in January/February) on my phone.

I'm not one for high end mascaras as I genuinely do believe that there are many drugstore alternatives/dupes of the high end version, such as Maybelline's Lash Sensational is an obvious dupe for Benefit Roller Lash as you can tell by the sheer likeness between the wands. I have read countless of blogs and watched numerous youtube videos that rave about the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, so naturally it had to be on my wishlist. I really do hope a drugstore counterpart is shown soon. Next up are eyelashes, the Demi Wispies and Wispies by both the brands Ardell and Red Cherry are ones that I so desperately want to own. I'm planning on buying them from falseeyelashes.co.uk as eyelashes cost just £3.49 on their website with free 1st class delivery within the UK! Zoeva's Rose Gold Brush Set is one that is on every bloggers' wishlist and I just have to have it, including their Luxe Face Paint Brush as I have nothing like it, and their Luxe Highlight Brush. I have really been into dark nudes recently which is so unlike and as NARS have quickly become my favourite brand, their Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama has quickly come under my radar too. Lastly, I also want to own MAC's Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in both the colours C4 and NC42. I feel like some of my foundations make my skin appear pink, so I'm hoping C4 will counteract that and NC42 is my shade when I don't have a tan!

What's on your wishlist?

Christmas Gift Ideas - NARS Edition #1

Technically Halloween hasn't even occurred yet, so it must seem a bit strange how I'm mentioning gift ideas for Christmas already. But since the limited edition holiday gift sets are already releasing, it's best to get your mittens on these products before they're out of stock!

If you follow me on Twitter, then you'd know that I have been counting down the days until the NARS x Steven Klein Collection will be release. They're due to be released on November 1st, but on Friday NARS started selling them on their site including the Space.NK exclusive 'One Shocking Moment' so naturally I had to purchase a few items from the collection for myself and my sister's birthday.

Soap and Glory's One Heck Of A Blot Primer

I obviously had to jump on the bandwagon and had to share my opinion on this primer to you. For reference I have a very oily t-zone, that instantly becomes oily when exposed to the sun for more than 5 minutes, 'normal' cheeks and dehydrated undereyes but that doesn't matter as I rarely, if ever, put primer or foundation on my undereyes as they're so sensitive.

Soap and Glory's One Heck Of A Blot Primer, Soap and Glory's One Heck Of A Blot Primer review, Soap and Glory's One Heck Of A Blot Primer oily skin, Soap and Glory's One Heck Of A Blot Primer oily skin reviewI own the powder version of this product and love that! I do think it's worth the £12, as expensive as that might be for a drugstore product, as it's lasted me well over 9 months. As I completely adore the powder, I really wanted to pick up the primer and foundation version. Unfortunately for me, Soap and Glory only released four shades in the foundation and the darkest shade was still too light for me so I didn't bother wasting my money on that. So in went Soap and Glory's One Heck Of A Blot, into my basket, alongside some other bits and bobs.

To be quite frank, I'm not at all impressed with this primer. Alarm bells should have been ringing in my head when I read reviews of people with dry skin stating that they loved this primer. Surely if this primer mattifies your skin and keeps it oil-free, it shouldn't work alongside dry skin? I can say that this primer definitely does not work with oily skin. My T-Zone got oilier even quicker, which is quite hard to do to be honest, so it didn't exactly keep me oil-free but rather quite the opposite. It did lengthen the wear time of my foundation on my 'normal' skin. 'Normal' here meaning that it's neither oily nor dry. The formula of the primer reminds me a lot of Wilkos Prime Of Your Life Smooth Light Reflecting Primer, which is at a fraction of the price and I'd much more recommend to you.

Have you tried this primer? What's your opinion on it?

Five Things Friday #1

five things friday

This week, I tried out my new (favourite) lipstick: Urban Decay's Matte Revolution Lipstick in 1993. The black and purple packaging is to die-for! The design is very sleek but I just don't like how it doesn't 'click' as that noise is so pleasing and satisfactory to hear.

Another product I've been loving this week is Soap and Glory's Supercat Eyeliner. I won't say any more as I'll be posting a review up on this very soon, but do know that I am in love with this product even though it took a few tries to get used to the application.

If you've read this post, then you'll know that I've been shopping recently and purchased myself a few (too many) pressed powders. I have quite a collection of powders now, being an oily-combination skinned girl. I remembered a few months back my sister gave me her Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Powder in 10 Classic Ivory which is way too light for my skintone. Since this is yellow-toned, I thought to use this to set my undereye with and it instantly brightened my underyes whilst setting it!

You'll probably hear me raving about this product the next few weeks (and for a good reason)! NARS Bronzer in Casino finally earlier on this week and I love it! I've been contemplating buying this for quite a while now (half a year, to be exact) and I finally bit the bullet and purchased it, and am glad I did because I am obsessed with this.

As previously mentioned in my 'little' (read: big) haul, I picked up Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil. This smells soo good and honestly does tame my frizzy hair. The best thing about this product is that it's really liquid-y so a little is required meaning that it'll last a long time.

What have you been loving this week?

Born Pretty Store Fan Brush* ♡

Last week, I posted a review on Born Pretty Store Blush* here. This week, I've got the other product that I was the most excited to receive from the Born Pretty StoreBorn Pretty Store Fan Brush*. I can safely say that this brush exceeded my expectations!

The brush retails for $2.82 which is £1.81, which is really affordable. The bristles of the brush are dyed white and black and are synthetic, but feel very soft so are quite up there with my Real Technique brushes. The ferrule of the brush is gold and it has a cheetah print handle, which I love as I do love my animal prints! I used this brush to apply my highlighter with, and it distributed the product evenly so I highly recommend this brush, as it's a must, in my opinion. The low price of the brush makes it even more easily attainable!

Born Pretty Store Blush* ♡

A few weeks ago when Born Pretty Store contacted me asking me to review some of their products, I obviously jumped at the chance as they're basically the eBay of beauty products. I was quite amazed at how affordable the products were, and their quality. Once I chose the products, they arrived to me in about a week, which was very fast!

The first product I chose was their Kiss Kiss Girl Color Blush in No. 01*. It retails for $8.76 which is about £5.72 which is a very good price for a blusher, in my opinion. The blush is currently retailing for $3.99 so you can get 54% off! This translates to roughly £2.58. The amount of product received is a whopping 7.5g, which will surely last a long time. The packaging of the blusher is beautiful. I love the design of the box and the minimalist packaging of the blush itself.

The packaging of the blusher is very MAC-esque, when compared to the old MAC blush packaging (which I much prefer to the new packaging), even down to the label on the bottom of the blusher. I also love the black packaging of these blushers as they look much more chic and elegant than they already are.

In the packaging itself, the colour of the blush is a pale, barbie-pink shade with some white in it too. The way the colours are arranged in the pan reminds me of a cheetah print. This particular blush has some shimmers running through it, which translates into glitter on the skin. On my medium-dark skin tone (NC41/42/44), the blusher doesn't suit my skintone as much as I'd like it to. The colour pay-off is quite okay, but could do better. It looks much more like a highlighter on my skintone than a blusher, but on lighter skintones and paler I can see this blusher to be a more gorgeous pink colour. The blusher lasted about 5-6 hours on my combination skin.

I didn't realise, until I used the blush, that you can lift the blush up to reveal a mirror and a small brush. This reminds me much of Soap and Glory's Kick Ass Concealer, the way you lift it up. The mirror is small, but you can just about manage to apply your blusher using it. The brush included is also quite small, but this is because it has to be small enough to fit into the little compartment. I'm not sure what the bristles are made out of, as it doesn't state what the material is on the website. However the bristles feel synthetic, but this doesn't necessarily mean that the bristles are definitely made out of synthetic hair. The bristles feel soft to the skin, but not as soft as Real Technique brushes. The brush isn't cut to a straight edge, which does bother me slightly.

So I Broke My Spending Ban...

I broke my spending ban this month. Well, not so much as 'broke it' as I ended it, per se. My spending ban started on 2nd August and ended on 5th October and I'm quite proud of myself, even if I do say so myself! I never knew I could last this long to be honest.

broke my spend ban, haul, drugstore haul, cheap haul, drugstore products, makeup, beauty

I've mentioned before how much my old laptop was breaking and how the wifi card was very weak, and so was very inappropriate for me as I do do a lot to things online and I've started uni so I needed a laptop of some kind to do my work and assignments on. I finally bought myself a new laptop which is the Macbook Pro and, while it did take a while for me to get used to the new software, etc. (I'm constantly google-ing how to do things to a macbook), I'm very glad I chose to buy it. I purchased it from Argos and have about 6 months to pay it off as my sister has an Argos card (benefits of having a sister) so this appealed to me even more as then it would be a lot easier for me, as a student, to buy a new laptop.

The first shop I actually went to (as I bought the laptop online) was Boots. Boots has got to be my all-time favourite shop as it has a vast range of brands and offers, and their loyalty card is the best. The first thing I picked up was the Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil, this was on offer so I saved a third off which was even better! I remember a few years back watching an American YouTuber use Organix products, her hair was so healthy and to die-for but unfortunately Organix wasn't available widely in the UK then. The bottle is also super cute and dinky!

L'Oreal was having 3 for 2, so I picked up their Infallible Mattifying Base Primer, which I'm super excited to try out. I also picked up their True Match Powder in D3-W3 Golden Beige. Since I have oily skin, I'm always on the lookout for the perfect powder for my skin. I received their True Match Concealer in 4 Beige for free as part of the offer. The stand I went to next was Soap and Glory. I really wanted to get their Kick Ass Powder but it was out of stock, so I picked up a back up of their One Heck Of A Blot Pressed Powder, as mine is almost finished. A new release of theirs was the One Heck Of A Blot Primer which I was also very excited to pick up. Soap and Glory also had the 3 for 2 offer so I picked up their Super Cat carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen, for free, as it's been raved about so much in the blogosphere and because my eyelashes have had a sudden growth spurt or something as whenever I apply eyeliner, I keep on getting eyeliner on my lashes now (ah, the cons of having long eyelashes). As I'm constantly using (read:stealing) my sister's Carmex, I decided to pick up my own. I've found that the tube ones work much better than the tub versions, but they don't last as long. I've been really into wearing fake nails recently, so I picked up some nail glue. Nailene Ultra Precise Nail Glue has quickly become my favourite, as it definitely does 'stick' the nail to your real nails and makes it feel super secure. I think I might purchase some more of these when this one finishes. I also picked up Elegant Touch Firm Hold Nail Glue, which I hope is as good as the first nail glue I mentioned. Nailene 200 Full Cover Nails in Oval was also picked up. These are quite short, so would be perfect for every day. Finally, from Boots, I picked up Broadway Nails 2Step Kit in Long Natural Square. I can't find the link to these online, but they definitely do sell them in-store. These are super, long. I naturally have quite long nails, but I don't think I'd be able to handle these to be honest. As they're crazy long (in my opinion), I'm planning on wearing them for my birthday. I think I might have to cut them down a bit though, or at least shape them.

After Boots, I continued my shopping spree in Superdrug. They had a buy one, get one half price deal on Rimmel products so I picked up a few. I've been wanting to try out the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer so I finally picked one up. A lipstick I was after was the Shade 107 in the Kate Moss Collection, but this was out of stock so I settled on their Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 001 Translucent as an oily-skinned girl can never have enough powders. I picked up a back up of my Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 004 Black Brown, just incase mine finished soon (even though I still have half the pencil left, lol). It took me three years, but my eyebrows are finally where I want them to be, so I very lightly fill in them and set them with a brow gel. As I very lightly fill them in now, the pencil lasts forever! I also picked up an Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in 064 Obsession, which I cannot wait to use!

Finally I made my way to my Wilkos and headed straight to their Essence stand (mostly because that's right near the door). Both of my sisters use either their I Heart Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara or their I Heart Extreme Waterproof Volume Mascara as I love the way these two look paired together. Last week, I saw a fellow blogger's snapchat story where they used the Gel Nail Polishes and their nails looked crazy good. I picked up 48 My Love Diary, which is such a weird name for a nail polish. It's Essence's colour of the year, which is a gorgeous nude-y mauve-y pink colour which is very on trend. I will definitely be wearing this shade on my birthday. 10 True Love is a deep cranberry red, which is a perfect colour for Autumn (not that that stops me from wearing dark colours all year around). I also picked up two clear polishes in 01 Absolutely Pure as I currently don't have any clear polishes.

Phew, this was a long post and thank you for still reading if you still are. I've recently made a clothes haul too, so let me know if you'd like me to post that.

What have you recently bought?

Disclaimer: I'm not super rich, if that what this posts makes me seem like. I bought all of this with my maintenance grant which is supposed to be used for living expenses but oh well.
