October Favourites

Hiya my lovely readers,

It's been a while since I have posted but I haven't forgotten about this site. I just needed some time off really so I could start afresh.

This past month has gone by so quick as I've started my second year at my uni (though I am procrastinating a lot), has been my birthday (yay) but generally I feel like this month has been the best month of the entire year, nay halloween of course ever since I was a young girl who got followed home by someone wearing a scream mask - that has probably got to be one of my most scared moments ever.

Regardless, as I write this, it is halloween and I'm lying down in bed, looking forward to what life has yet to bring me despite how clichéd it may sound. I'm finally twenty and feel slightly like a grown up perhaps? I don't know about that but I do know of the piling workload I have for uni which I am yet to start as as much as I hate myself doing this, I work best under pressure and last minute.

I have purchased many (unnecessary yet necessary) products this month and have fallen back in love with some old favourites.

I received the Violet Voss Holy Grail Eyeshadow Palette and it quickly has become one of my holy grails! The eyeshadows feel so buttery and are so pigmented, it's unreal. This palette is perfect for warm-toned lovers and such a must-have! I can see why it's been out of stock a lot and its' hype. I've also been loving the gold shade (bottom left shade) in Charlotte Tilbury's Dolce Vita Palette. First of all, I've been lusting after this palette for so long, so I'm so happy it's finally mine. It's slightly smaller than I expected it to be but still such a luxurious product which is definitely worth its' price tag. It's so pigmented and lasts all day (and night). I cannot recommend this palette enough!

I recently depotted some eyeshadows and I was simply not using them enough. One of them was Urban Decay's  Eyeshadow in Beware. I actually bought this about a year ago but it seemed way too cool toned for me, however since depotting I actually tried this and realised that it's the perfect shade for me for setting my entire lid. I also depotted a MAC Eyeshadow in I'm Into It - I've really been into these kind of shades recently and I've been loving this in my crease to darken it up. The final two shadows I have been loving are Anastasia Beverly Hill's Eyeshadows in Sienna and Morocco, these two shades are perfect as a transition colour. I love the formula of these too as they definitely do last all day and night even with my oily eyelids!

Talking about oily skin, Make Up For Ever's Step 1 Mattifying Primer is the best! It's a literal godsend. A little goes a long way otherwise it can make your foundation too drying otherwise you're good to go with a bit on your t-zone, etc. Another love for my oil skin is L'Oreal's Infallible Fixing Mist Setting Spray. When I first bought this, I didn't like it much as I thought it didn't do much for my skin but I've realised since there's a technique to using a setting spray. I used to spray it all over my face and fan it dry but I've realised that if I let it dry 'naturally' as in don't fan it dry then it sets my makeup a lot better. I use this spray after I've done my base and while it dries, I fill my eyebrows in.

Kat Von D has finally reached our shores and I was dying to try out her Tattoo Liner in the shade 'Trooper'. I was lucky to receive a mini with one of my online orders but I have ordered one for when this one finishes. It's jet-black and has a sati-y finish and while I do prefer a matte finish, I settle for the slightly shiny finish as this eyeliner definitely lasts all day and night! Whilst I do love my liquid eyeliner, I always have the problem of the liquid getting on my eyelashes which messes up how my lashes look as by the time I'm on to doing my mascara, my lashes have dried with the eyeliner. Another eyeliner I've been loving is Marc Jacobs' Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner - I received this for free from Sephora as my birthday gift but omg this is perfect for my tightline. No other eyeliner compares to this one! It lasts all day and doesn't smudge at all. It's super pigmented too and has quickly become one of my favourites!

I've been loving lip products that literally require no effort whatsoever this month! The first is one of my holy grails (and is so close to finishing unfortunately) - MAC's Persistence! This is a must have for my brown-skinned gals, it's such a perfect nude shade and legit requires no effort whatsoever! i've applied this many times and it looks decent more or less aha. I've also been loving Anastasia Beverly Liquid Lipsticks! I have the shades Ashton and Veronica. Ashton pulls slightly more orange on me which I love the look of but regardless, this is the best formula I have used and so far my favourite. They fade almost as if they were lipsticks, so not harsh lines but if they do fade, it's usually near the end of the day as these liquid lipsticks last through anything and everything!

This past month I have also fallen back in love with false eyelashes! I've tried loving the Ardell Demi Wispies but the actual lashes are shorter than my actual lashes which sucks :/. My favourite lashes of all time are Eylure x Vegas Nay Lashes in Easy Elegance. These are perfect for an everyday look and so easy to apply! My other favourite lashes are Eylure Exaggerate Lashes in No. 143. The bands for this pair is on the slightly thick side so it took a while for the lash band to adhere to my lash line but once on, they're perfect! These are subtle enough for me to wear them everyday but glamorous enough for me to where in the evening.

Now, the first brush I've been loving is Sephoras' Pro Collection All Over Brush #61. This has actually been taken off the website and I purchased it when it was on sale so I'm presuming it's discontinued. This brush was a lot bigger than I expected it to be to be honest, however it's the perfect size to powder (and mattify) my entire face just before I go out. It's perfect for pushing powder into my skin, rather than moving my foundation alongside it, which is why I have been loving this brush recently! A new buy for me was the Kat Von D's Lock-It Edge Foundation Brush #10. I have been loving this brush for applying my foundation with (of course). It applies it so easily and quickly and I very much recommend this brush to each and one of you!

The next brush is the Real Techniques Targeted Blending Brush which forms a part of the Highlight and Glow Set. It's such a shame that this brush isn't available to purchase by itself as it is such an amazing little brush. It's densely packed which allows it to blend my under-eye concealer so flawlessly. Another favourite is So Eco's Multi Tasking Brush which is the perfect size for setting my under-eyes. It's ridiculously soft for a dense brush so it doesn't feel scratchy at all and doesn't hurt the sensitive under my under-eyes. Lastly is another favourite of mine for foundations - B. Blending Brush. It's quite densely packed and has short bristles, so almost like a much denser stippling brush I'd say. The way the bristles are, allows me to achieve maximum coverage with my foundation and I 'push' my foundation into my skin with this brush. It doesn't leave any streaks and blends at the same time, which is a dream.

Last but not least, Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Wipes, are the best thing to have come out of Garnier. I originally bought these wipes for my uni trip, however I was so impressed I have continued using them. They've replaced my micellar water which I have sworn by the past year or so. I have sensitive combination skin, and these wipes remove my makeup effortlessly without leaving a residue or leaving my skin feeling dry/icky. I can see myself using these wipes early every day now (which I do) and highly recommend them to you as they're perfect for a lazy girl.

What have you been loving this past month?

Makeup Brushes I Cannot Live Without

If you know me, then you know that I have a vast amount of makeup brushes and the reason for so is that I try to put off washing my makeup brushes for as long as I can. This is quite easily done for me now as I've accumulated so many the past few years that I can easily use a new brush every day and I still will have clean brushes a month later. Having a lot of makeup brushes also means that I have discovered some real gems.

My favourite brush of all time, and of my holy grails, is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I much prefer this brush over the Buffing Brush which I think is too hype up, however the Expert Face Brush is 100x better. It seamlessly blends my foundation in without soaking it up in the bristles. I also love the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush too for my foundation. I originally bought it for 'sculpting' my face but I found it too dense for that, so I apply my foundation with it instead. I find the Sculpting Brush denser than the Expert Face Brush, so the application is just that tad quicker. Another makeup brush that I think everyone needs is the Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush. I'd say that this brush is the softest out of the three and is the quickest at blending my foundation in. I definitely will be purchasing another one of this brush and the Sculpting Brush.

For colour correcting concealer, which I do before my foundation, Zoeva 110 Face Shape Brush is perfect for this. It's like a mini version of the 102 Silk Finish Brush. I apply my concealer with this brush and blend it out before applying my foundation on top. I've yet to find the perfect brush for my actual concealer, so I'm currently just using any small brush for this.

Usually after doing my foundation and concealer, I check to see if everything is blended. The Zoeva 107 Powder Polish Brush is perfect for this, as it's like a very dense powder brush so a quick once over and it blends everything is blended. The Real Techniques Contour Brush is the best brush out there for setting your undereyes, it's the perfect size and it sets my undereyes without using too much product. Since I have oily skin, I have tried a lot of powder brushes and my favourite for setting my entire face is the Real Techniques Multi Task Brush. It's not too big for my face but it's not too small that it'll take a year and a half to set my entire face. It has the perfect density too so it sets my foundation without moving my foundation because I absolutely hate it when any of my brushes do that.

The last two brushes for my face are the Zoeva 126 Luxe Cheek Finish Brush which is fab for contouring. I love how its slightly rounded on top as I feel like this helps when contouring my face. The Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush is amazing for overall bronzing of the face. Whilst I can use this brush for contouring, I feel like the bristles are a tad too long for it so it's much better suited for bronzing in my opinion.

I always do my eyebrows after my foundation and for that Zoeva 322 Brow Line Brush has been my go to. I didn't really know how to use this brush at first but Jame Genevieve used this brush on her eyebrows on her youtube channel and so I thought I would. This brush speeds up the process of doing my brows and I recommend this brush to everything. Obviously I use a spoolie brush but I bought mine off of eBay for 99p and it does the job just as good.

Onto eyes, I use the Zoeva 142 Concealer Buffer Brush to blend out my eye primer. If I want to really pack on my eyeshadow, usually a bronze shade, then the Zoeva 226 Smudger Brush is perfect for this. I pack on the eyeshadow and press against my eyelid to get a true colour. For applying my transition colour, I use a tiny blending brush which, again, I bought from eBay for just 99p. This brush applies the transition colour precisely to one area. The Zoeva 231 Luxe Petit Crease Brush is perfect for applying a transition colour too; I use this one when I want my eyeshadow to go all along my crease rather than one specific spot. For overall blending or just a wash of colour, the Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease Brush is perfect for this. It's a bigger and less dense-r version of the 231 brush. Regardless, everyone needs them both!

What are some of makeup brushes you cannot live without?

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny, liquid lipstick, review, beauty,

Jeffree Star Cosmetics is a brand that I discovered through Instagram (the power of social media) and I instantly fell in love with this shade 'Androgyny'. It is the most perfect dusty rose colour which looks different on nearly every single skintone. This shade is legit one of my holy grails and I'm so glad I picked up two. Jeffree released this shade as limited edition but it became so popular that he made it permanent, which I am more than happy about as my first tube is nearly finished.

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny, liquid lipstick, review, beauty,

I purchased mine from Cocktail Cosmetics and I hope they start sellling the new shades Jeffree has released recently because I need Gemini! Anyways, the packaging is really sleek and feels quite sturdy even though its glass so I know its prone to smashing, which I hope it never does. I really like the limited edition packaging and don't know which one I prefer more.

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny, liquid lipstick, review, beauty,

As you can see, my Androgyny is very much truly loved! It has a doe foot applicator but it's slightly bigger than Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks in that the end of it is bigger and I feel like this affects the way that I apply it a lot because I have to be so careful applying Androgyny as otherwise I can apply wayyyy too much. That's the only thing that lets it down because this lipstick lasts through everything and I mean everything. It lasted through me drinking through a straw, and even though it did leave a tiny bit of a stain, it looked more than perfect on my lips. It even lasted through me having two burgers and some chips and usually grease tends to remove liquid lipsticks so I was more than shocked when I saw it stay put. I did find it strange how it only took me one wipe of micellar water to remove it though considering it lasted all day.

It feels a bit heavy when it dries. I mean, I definitely feel it throughout the day but it's nothing bad. I've read reviews of how layering the liquid lipstick results in it being flakey and streaky etc., but I did layer it even though it looked more than perfect so I could test this and it didn't turn flakey or streaky or whatever than me. All in all, Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny is worth every penny. Heck, if it cost more than £14 and was near the £30 mark I'd still purchase it!

Have you tried any liquid lipsticks by Jeffree Stars? What did you think of them?

April Favourites

monthly favourites, april favourites,

This month has gone by so fast and so much has happened this month too. I went to Brighton where I discovered hm's beauty range! I picked up a few eyeshadows and the one that has really stuck out for me is gingerbread. It's a beautiful warm brown shade that I use as a transition and a crease shade! These eyeshadows are so ridiculously soft which allows them to blend easily but it does have a tonne of fall out but I guess we can't always get what we want. From Brighton, I also picked up DKNY's Pure Perfume which just smells amazing and I cannot get enough of it. I picked it up on sale for half price so I hope it doesn't get discontinued soon. Another perfume I also picked was YSL's Black Opium which is the best perfume out there, I cannot stop wearing this either. I think this will be my go-to perfume this year.

I've been all about liquid lipsticks this month and have been wearing Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Iced Mocha. It's a muted brown shade on my skintone and looks so natural, almost like a nude. I wear this shade interchangeably with Jeffree Stars Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny which is one of my holy grails. It's such a beaut shade!

I recently picked up Soap and Glory's Kick Ass Powder and have been setting my under eyes and my entire face with this. I totally get the hype with this powder as it just perfectly sets everything. I also picked up Lipcote Lipstick Sealer which mattifies your lipstick. I did make the mistake of wearing two layers of this the other day and oh my god, my lips felt drier than the Sahara desert. I do highly recommend this but don't make the same mistake as me because your lips won't love you for it. Another product I've bought recently was Superdrug's Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Peel which makes your skin feel baby-bottom soft. I use a pea-sized amount and just apply it to my face as if it was moisturiser. The texture is kind of weird as it feels like oil but it's not oil and at the same time it's like gel? It dries clear within a minute or so and then the next morning you wash and cleanse your face and it feels so soft, like it's never been before.

What have you been loving this past month?

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Iced Mocha

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Iced Mocha, review, beauty, lipstick, liquid lipstick

Gerard Cosmetics is a brand that became a lot more well known due to instagram. Their packaging usually includes a bit of gold which looks sleek in photos but can look a bit tacky in real life, especially their bullet lipsticks. I've reviewed Cherry Cordial and 1995 on my blog. Liquid lipsticks have become quite the 'it' product now and of course they started selling them. I have the shade Iced Mocha but I have my eyes on a few more shades!

Now, when the liquid lipstick arrived, I was quite shocked on how small it was. I'm not talking about the amount of liquid lipstick you receive but the actual size of the tube. As you can see it's such a dainty little thing which weighs next to nothing. It has a frosted tube which does look nice I guess. The lid is made out of plastic and feels like it could break perhaps and to be honest I did expect much nicer packaging as they retail for $20 (£13.75) on Gerard Cosmetics Website and £9.50 on BeautyBay.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Iced Mocha, review, beauty, lipstick, liquid lipstick

The lipstick has a doe foot applicator which makes it super easy to apply and doesn't have too much liquid lipstick on the applicator. The shade itself is a muted brown shade which is ideal for everyday as it isn't 'out there' as Kylie Jenner's True Brown K or Jeffree Star's Dominatrix. It does feel the tiniest bit tacky once dried (it dries in 3-4 minutes) but it's nothing too major. It doesn't feel heavy on your lips, almost satin-y even though its dried. It does transfer a bit on cups which sucks because I find that lipstick stains are the hardest to remove from glass cups. Nevertheless it is a pretty good liquid lipstick, not amazingly good but good enough for me to like. I have my eye on 1995, Everything Nice and Cher next!

What's your favourite brand for liquid lipsticks?

MAC Lipstick Collection

beauty, beauty blogger, lipstick, lipstick collection, mac, mac lipstick, mac lipstick collection, nc42, nc44, review

I feel like this is such a typical beauty blogger post and despite the countless times I have said that MAC isn't worth the hype I have a surprisingly number of MAC beauty products, namely their lipsticks which I still think are overly hyped. I have 13 MAC lipsticks in totals up to just over £200 which is a pretty scary amount.

beauty, beauty blogger, lipstick, lipstick collection, mac, mac lipstick, mac lipstick collection, nc42, nc44, review,
L-R: Taupe. Retro, Taupe
My second ever lipstick was Taupe and I have two of them as the first one is so close to finishing and I seriously do not want to be without it. Taupe is what Velvet Teddy is to light-medium skintones, but to dark skintones. It is the perfect warm nude for me and will be forever one of my holy grails. Despite it being a matte shade, it doesn't feel all that drying but it is the second most drying MAC lipstick I own. I reviewed this lipstick here.

Retro is slightly darker and is a red-brown shade. It's a satin finish but to be honest MAC's matte and satin finishes seem the same to me so I'm not too bothered. It dries down to a matte but has a slight sheen to it.

beauty, beauty blogger, lipstick, lipstick collection, mac, mac lipstick, mac lipstick collection, nc42, nc44, review,
L-R: Amorous, Paramount, Double Shot

Amorous is another satin finish and is probably the only closest to a pink shade that I have in my collection. It swatches to a purple-y shade but on my lips it's more of a pink-y nude which I love wearing in the summer. This shade is another holy grail for me. I highly recommend trying this shade out if you're a NC42 or darker as it looks beaut on our skintones.

Paramount is a beautiful chocolate brown shade with slight red undertones and a satin finish. I definitely feel like a bad ass wearing this (lol) because it's such a dark shade which is very wearable in my opinion.

Double Shot is one of the lightest lipsticks I own and is close to being 'concealer lips' for me. Because it has an amplified creme finish (the only one), the pigmentation is definitely there as it's quite opaque, however it does slip and slide a lot. I tend to wear this with a lip liner so it doesn't look 'off' when I wear it otherwise it can wash me out in certain lightings.

beauty, beauty blogger, lipstick, lipstick collection, mac, mac lipstick, mac lipstick collection, nc42, nc44, review,
L-R: Verve, Studded Kiss, Persistence

Verve is another satin finish and is a straight up brown shade. It looks slightly more muted when compared to Paramount.

Studded Kiss is the most drying MAC lipstick I own. It has a matte finish and was part of the permanent MAC Matte Collection that was released summer of 2015. It took me more than half a year to pick it up but I'm glad I did because it's such a beaut red shade. I much prefer deeper reds than  Ruby Woo kinda reds or bright reds as I feel that my skintone suits deeper reds the most. I also highly recommend this shade!

Persistence was also part of the permanent MAC Matte Collection and so it has a matte finish of course. The actual shade is quite close to Taupe, but I feel like Taupe is slightly lightly and warmer on me. Nevertheless this is also another holy grail for me, for which I will be picking up a back up soon!

beauty, beauty blogger, lipstick, lipstick collection, mac, mac lipstick, mac lipstick collection, nc42, nc44, review,
L-R: Spirit, Rebel, Viva Glam III, Whirl
Spirit is the light shade that I own. It's slightly darker than Double Shot with a pink undertone and a satin finish. I have to use a lip liner for this one too otherwise it gives me 'concealer lips' too.

Rebel is one that I had such high hopes for but was disappointed. I reviewed this here. Despite the packaging saying that it has a satin finish, it is has the most sheen and is more of a gloss-y finish which I loathe. It is also a pink toned berry shade which, if you know me, I don't wear pink lipsticks ever. Had it been darker, then I would've been okay will the aforementioned but I guess we can't always have what we want. Maybe this is why I bash MAC as a brand, perhaps it's not but what I do know is that this is my least favourite MAC lipstick and I don't know why it has a cult status in the beauty world and blogosphere.

Viva Glam III is a crossover between Amorous and Paramount. It's a red-brown shade with slight red-purple tones to it which I love! I'm all about my brown nudes and dark shades and this shade is the perfect crossover of the two! It has a matte finish so feels drying but to be honest I'd much prefer my lipsticks to be drying and matte than to be slipping all over the lower half of my face.

Finally, Whirl. The lip liner version of this became well known because of Kylie Jenner and when the lipstick version was released under the permanent MAC Matte Collection, everyone and their mother picked up this shade and most of them were disappointed as the lipstick was a few shades darker than the lip liner. Now, me being an NC42 southern-asian with pigmented lips meant that the lip liner didn't show up on me at all no matte how many times I filled my lips in. The lipstick however, is another one of those perfect shades for me! It's another holy grail for me and I love it! It's a shade darker than Taupe and Persistence and is the perfect nude for when I'm slightly bit more tanned (NC44) in the summer.

What are some of your favourite MAC lipsticks?

February Favourites

I've been posting so inconsistent this past few months or so and it's mostly because I have been busy with work and uni, but mostly the latter due to assignments and deadlines but I am hoping to be posting more now - at least 2-3 times a week if my free time permits.

February is such a short month yet was very jam packed for me. This past month I have started wearing a lot more makeup too than my usual just 'doing my eyebrows as fast as I can' lol.

I have been loving Alpha H Liquid Gold so much! I have cystic acne on one side of my face and this has helped my skin a lot. On the bottle, it says to use it 'every alternate evening' but I use it every night. It tingles my skin a little (which I secretly like because then I know it's actually doing something to my skin) and it improved my skin in as little as two weeks. I've nearly run out of this so I need to pick some more up soon!

I feel like I have been talking about Urban Decay's Riff Eyeshadow soo much and I recommend it to anyone who'll listen but it is the most perfect warm brown shade. It looks gorgeous across the lid and is so pigmented so a little goes a wrong way. I did try to pop out the eyeshadow to see whether it would fit into my z palette (which I will talk about soon) and it's super easy to pop the eyeshadow out. Unfortunately I dinged it with my nail which sucks.

Now, I don't know if I have mentioned this mascara yet (I probably should have though because I am head over heels in love with it) but I think I might have just found my holy grail mascara, Too Faced Better Than Sex. I won't say too much about this because I will be posting a review for this soon but this mascara is perfect and is worth every penny!

An oldie but a goodie is Rimmel's Exaggerate Eye Liner - it's super black, has a fine point so is very easy to use, dries matte and lasts through sweat (tmi) and rain so actually it has holy grail status for me. I recently purchased this in January after a year or so and I don't know why I hadn't repurchased this yet. I recommend this eye liner to everyone as it's super easy to use and is just the best plus it's only £5.29, bargain!

MAC Lipstick in Persistence is the one that I have been wearing continuously this month. It's such a natural nude shade on me plus it's matte which is also a bonus in my books. I have recently started using my Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette again, and I have found that sweeter end is the perfect inner corner highlight shade for me. Subtle blend is another perfect shade for me as I loooove wearing some bronze shades all over my lid.

Last month I bought myself some Zoeva brushes. I have been loving the 102 Silk Finish Brush as it blends my foundation so effortlessly. I'm thinking of buying a back up or two of this brush as it's quickly become one of my favourites! I have been using both the 126 Luxe Cheek Finish Brush and the 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush for contouring and they're both just easy to use for contouring.

Smoky Boys & Kaspas

Last weekend it was my sisters birthday, so us four siblings (alongside her son) drove to Smoky Boys in Watford for a birthday lunch. I didn't really know what food to expect to be honest but all in all it was delicious. I chose a smoky chick which was basically a smoky chicken burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onions. The burger was a lot bigger than I expected and I did finish it all albeit one small piece lol. It was so delicious. For my sides, I chose two: chunky chips and onion rings as I was feeling really hungry - which is me all the time aha. The onion rings were so yummy, probably the best I've ever had and the chips just seemed like standard chips to be honest.

For desserts we went to a place called Kaspas which is a dessert place. It reminded me a lot of Creams, in the way the dessert place was decorated. I had the strawberry indulge which was a belgian waffle, served with strawberries and whipped cream, drizzled with warm chocolate sauce. This dessert was to die for! It was so freakin' delicious that myself and my sister finished it within minutes - it was mostly me though lol.

All in all, I had a great time and I hope my sister had a fab birthday!

January Favourites ♡

This month went by so ridiculously fast that it feels like December only just started and we were all waiting for 2016. This month I had some definite favourites.

                                    january favourites, monthly favourites, favourites,

The first two were the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (£25) and Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (£25)I use the former to blend out any excess eyeshadow as it's basically the same colour as my skintone and I use the latter to contour with as it's the perfect shade for so! Another Too Faced product I love is the Better Than Sex Mascara (£19) This mascara is very wet and can easily clump but it definitely does coat every lash making them look thicker and longer than usual! Two primers I have been loving is the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (£25.50)I have combination skin, where my t-zone is extremely oily whereas the rest of my face, i.e. my cheeks, are quite normal. I use this primer where my skin is fairly normal and it definitely makes my foundation apply a lot smoother. Benefit Stay Don't Stray Primer (£20.50) is quite a dry eye primer which I much prefer as my eyelids are super oily. My eyeshadow lasts all day when I use this primer so I highly recommend it if you have super oily eyelids! My all time favourite lipstick is MAC's Taupe (£15.50) which I fell back in love with this month. I can just apply it so effortlessly without a mirror which I love. An amazing product that I found way back in November was Freedom Eyebrow Pomade (£5) This lasts all day and once its' set, it's not going anywhere at all. I literally use the smallest amount as a small amount goes a long way. Urban Decay is a new brand that I ventured into last year and their Eyeshadow in Riff (£14) is the most beautiful shade ever! It's a very very warm brown, with slight orange hints in it and has a shimmer running through it. The shimmer doesn’t translate to much on the eyelids, which I prefer as I love my matte shadows. I’ve been obsessed with this colour ever since I’ve bought it and have been wearing it non-stop. This shade looks beaut if you have a tan too (which I have 24/7 lol). Zoeva's Cocoa Blend Palette (£15.50)The shades 'substitute for love' and 'freshly toasted' are my favourite shades as they're very 'me' shades. 'subtle blend' is a gorgeous bronze-y shade which I have been loving all over my lid too. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light (£38) (which is in my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette £56) is the most perfect setting powder. It creates that glow from within which just looks absolute beaut!

                                    january favourites, monthly favourites, favourites,

A week or so ago I had a chest infection which meant that my skincare routine was not on point but I realised that with me doing the minimum skincare bits, my skin actually improved which I totally didn't expect. Due to this, I have gone back to my basics. I remove my makeup with Garnier Micellar Water £4.99This removes my makeup without leaving any residue. Next I use Alpha H Liquid Gold £15 for 50ml. This is the best! I can totally see why this is a cult classic because it definitely does help your skin! Backstory to my skin - I have had cystic acne now for nearly three years and this has help improved it drastically within the past month. I should've picked it up sooner. I pour some onto a cotton pad and then dab it all over my face. It has a chemical-like smell but the smell fades once its on your face. I do this every other night and it definitely has helped it! Now, onto some makeup brushes! As mentioned here, I bought myself some (read: a lot) of new makeup brushes; some of which have quickly become my favourite! The first is the Zoeva 106 Powder Brush £11.50. The handle is on the smaller side but this means that it can fit into my makeup bag, which is a win-win situation for me as I have oily skin and so have to have a powder brush on hand. The bristles are loosely packed which allows my powder to distribute evenly without looking 'caked on'. The Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush £11.50 was the one that I was looking forward to the most and I definitely was not disappointed! This so effortlessly blends your foundation without leaving any streaks. I'm so tempted to buy a back up of this so I can use it when the other one is dirty lol. One that I forgot to take a picture of was the Zoeva 107 Powder Polish Brush £14.95. This is a larger version of the 102 brush, and so I love using it to blend out my foundation without putting any excess foundation on it. I feel like this removes any excess foundation too, allowing my foundation to look a lot more skin-like (well as skin-like the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation can look like lol). I love me some angled brushes so it was only natural that I'd fall in love with the Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush £11.50 and the B. Beauty Blush/Contour Brush £8.99. I use these two interchangeably to contour with! These kind of brushes, alongside round top kabuki brushes, will always have a special place in my heart. For blending any harsh eyeshadow lines, my three favourites have been the Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease Brush £6.95, Zoeva 231 Luxe Petit Crease Brush £6.95 and the Real Technique Duo-Fibre Eye Brush, which is part of the Duo-Fibre Collection £19.99. These three brushes are the best for blending by far! Ecotools Correcting Concealer Brush £4.99 is my go-to brush for blending in my eye primer (Benefit Stay Don't Stray). It just blends it so fast and effortlessly!

First Haul of 2016

Hello to my second post of 2016. It's been a while mostly because I used to blog in my free tim from university but now I have work and do uni work on my free days so I'm quite busy. I'm going to try to post at least three times a week, or every weekday if my schedule allows.

It's only right for me to write a haul post as that's what I have been doing in the little free time that I have. The first time item I received was from my lovely secret santa! I'm still yet to use this but the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Strip is beaut. Now, this is one of those items that I wouldn't have picked up myself but would use if I got it if that makes any sense lol. It contains a bronzer, highlighter and blush and I'm very excited to use the latter two. I picked up Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original which I'm yet to try but will report back when I do! I have heard nothing but great things about this primer, so I expect the very best. Their Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Rapture is one that was an impulse buy and I'm glad I picked it up! The packaging is so sleek and very unlike the traditional Urban Decay packaging and the colour itself is very me. I've been using Urban Decay's Eyeshadow in Riff every day for just over a month now and decided to order their Eyeshadow in Beware too which is a grey-toned brown eyeshadow. From one of my (NARS) I picked up their single Eyeshadow in Persia which is a neon orange colour. I love wearing orange-toned brown eyeshadows and I know that I'll definitely be getting some use out of this by using it softly. Another eyeshadow primer I picked up was Benefit's Stay Don't Stray Primer for Eyeshadow in light/medium. This is the best eyeshadow primer I have ever used (apart from Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige.) This dries very matte on my eyelids, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you have dry eyelids but if you suffer from oily eyelids, like me, this will be the best thing that has ever happened to you. My eyeshadow lasts all day, even when my face is turning into a oil-slick pan at work. Speaking of Color Tattoos, I picked up a few more in Creme De Nude, which is very yellow based, and Creme De Rose, which is very pink based and is a dupe for MAC's Painterly Paint Pot. I'll be using these as bases for my eyeshadows, as usual. Make Up For Ever is finally available at Debenhams and I picked up myself their Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer and their Mist and Fix Make Up Setting Spray. I'm still testing these out so I don't have a verdict on them yet.

From MAC I picked up their Studio Fix Powder in NC42 and NC41 and some lipsticks. Now, I know these all may look the same in the tube but I promise you they're not! Viva Glam III is one that I bought last year but sold as I didn't like the colour but I'm ready to give it another go. Paramount and Verve are two that I have been wanting to pick up for ages but never did and I finally bought a back up of my all time favourite nude, Taupe. I have a tiny stub of it left which I was trying so hard not to use because I didn't want to have to use a back up but now I can because I have a spare Taupe!

Now, it was only right that I bought myself some brushes too. I feel as if I have enough to last me a whole lifetime now! I bought the majority of these brushes on half price during the January sales, so I can totally justify it a bit lol! The first set I picked up was EcoTools Complexion Collection which are such a pretty set of brushes! In the set are the Mattifying Finish Brush which I used to set my entire face with the Hourglass Dim Light, the Skin Perfecting Brush which would be ideal for foundation, the Eye Perfecting Brush, and the Correcting Concealer Brush which I use to apply and blend my eyeshadow primer with. The Real Techniques' Expert Face Brush is my favourite brush to apply foundation with so I bought myself a back up of it, alongside the Stippling Brush as I wanted to try it out. I also bought two of their sets when it was on for half price! I was the most excited for the Duo-Fiber Collection and so I was a bit disappointed to see that I was sent the new packaging version as I really wanted the monochrome black and white version. Nonetheless the actual brushes are great to use. It contains a Duo-Fiber Face Brush which is the exact same as the one in Nic's Picks which I also own. The Duo-Fiber Contour Brush is a bigger and broader version of the Contour Brush in the original line in the Core Collection. The last brush in this set is the Duo-Fiber Eye Brush which has quickly become one of my favourite brushes. I use this to slightly buff out any harsh eyeshadow lines and to flick away any excess eyeshadow. This is such a multi-task eyeshadow brush. The next set I picked up was the Travel Essentials. The brush I was most excited for in this set was the Multi-Task Brush which I use mostly for powder. I'd liken this brush to the Powder Brush, as it reminds me of a much smaller version of it, and the Cheek Brush from Nic's Picks but a much broader version of it. The Domed Shadow Brush is basically the perfect brush for packing on eyeshadow and last brush in the set is the Essentials Foundation Brush. This is a much thicker version of the Foundation Brush in the Core Collection. Even though I like using both paddle brushes and buffing brushes for my foundation, I think I'd only use this brush for my foundation if I had a lot of time on my hands as this brush is quite small for me to do my entire face with. Now, the next brush is a brush that I've been wanting for quite some time now. B. Blush/Contour Brush is the most perfect brush for contouring. It's an angled brush and I learnt how to contour using a brush that was very similar to this!

I did a splurge on some Zoeva brushes which I have been lusting after for what feels like years but is actually half a year lol. I bought 107 Powder Polish Brush which has quite a big head. I love using these kind of brushes for foundation so I will definitely get use out of this brush. The other single brush I bought was the 221 Luxe Soft Crease Brush which is super soft and fluffy. I obviously picked up the Zoeva Rose Gold Brush Set! The brushes are even more pretty in real life. I'm the most excited to use the 102 Silk Finish Brush as, as I said before, these kind of brushes are my absolute favourite for applying foundation with. The 106 Powder Brush is less dense than I thought it would be and would be perfect for topping up my powder throughout the day as I have the most oiliest t-zone ever. In the set are also the 110 Face Shape Brush, which is basically a smaller head version of the 102 Silk Finish Brush, 142 Concealer Buffer Brush, 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush as I love these brushes for contouring and I can never have too many of them, 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush, 231 Luxe Petit Crease Brush and 317 Wing Liner Brush. I also bought the Rose Gold Volume 2 Brush Set as a girl can never have too many brushes lol. Another version of my favourite type of foundation brushes is the 104 Buffer Brush. I own the mini NARS ITA Brush, so I was quite excited to be receiving the 109 Luxe Face Paint Brush in this set to see how it compares as I just hate having to wash the mini ITA Brush as it's just so damn tiny. I know I will definitely be using the 126 Luxe Cheek Finish Brush for blush, as it's just the perfect size for blush. In this set, I also received the 228 Luxe Crease Brush, 234 Luxe Smoky Shader Brush, 226 Smudger Brush, 322 Brow Line Brush and a repeat of the 317 Wing Liner Brush. I will definitely be posting a review of these brushes after I've used these for a while so keep any eye out for that too!

2015 Beauty Favourites

This year has gone by so fast; it feels like it was only yesterday that 2015 had just started. This year definitely was the year that I ventured out more in the world of beauty and some quickly became my favourites.

2015 beauty favourites

M A K E U P

I cannot praise Makeup Revolution's Radiant Lights enough! They highlight without it being too much (think 'glow from within') and they're perfect for beginners. I have the shades Glow and Breathe and my personal favourite is Breathe; you just can't go overboard with this highlighter as it's quite subtle and is more of a powder-highlighter hybrid in the sense that it still looks very natural, even when overdone. Urban Decay is a new brand that I ventured into this year and their eyeshadow in Riff is the most beautiful shade ever!

Soap and Glory is also another brand that I dabbled into this year and I'm glad I did! One Heck Of A Blot Powder is a must-have for any oily-skinned person as it mattifies and blots your skin without it looking powder-y. Another powder I've been loving, and range I've been meaning to try out for quite some time, is Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder. This mattifies your skin too and I'm currently obsessed with this! I love this paired with their Stay Matte Primer, as both help to combat any oil-liness and shine-ness I usually get within a few hours. Another Soap and Glory product I love is their Supercat Eyeliner. It took me a while to get used to it as I've been using liquid eyeliner ever since I first started wearing eyeliner. But once you get the hang of it, it's super easy to use. It dries matte too and lasts all day which is really good considering that this eyeliner costs £6.

Foundations-wise, Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation is the best, in my eyes, for oily skin. This foundation is very liquid-y so you do have to work fast with it. But I love using it with Real Technique's Expert Face Brush, which will always have a special place in my heart. However, once it's set, it'll stay put until you remove it! This is the most long-wearing foundation I have ever tried.

I discovered Jeffree Star through Instagram (the power of social media) and instantly fell in love with his liquid lipsticks, in particular the shade 'Androgyny' but it turned out to be limited edition so I purchased two of them. He recently announced that this shade will be made permanent for next year which I can't wait for! I have the limited edition packaging which I love but enough of all that kerfuffle because the outcome of this liquid lipstick on my lips is the shade that I wanted when I bought some other lipsticks alike and they turned out to be too light for me. Think a dusty rose shade that suits medium to dark skintones too. I love this shade and I'm so glad Jeffree Star decided to sell this particular shade.

Now, if you know me in person you'd know that I think MAC is overly hyped up (a hype that I bought into at the beginning of this year) so it seems quite contradictory that four of their lipsticks are in my beauty favourites. I find it quite hard to find nudes that are suitable for me. Some are too dark, whereas others are too light and this frustrates the eff out of me. When I become even more tanned in the summer, most of my nude lipsticks don't suit me anymore and the struggle is real. Besides the point, the MAC have some lipsticks that do suit my skintone but I do believe that they charge way too much. The first is Taupe which I've nearly finished. I've started using my other lipsticks now as I don't want this lipstick to finish. This is the perfect nude for my skintone and I looooove this. It's labelled as a matte but definitely is not a matte, more of a cremesheen. This lasts about an hour on my lips which sucks but with Maybelline's Hydra Extreme Lip Liner, it lasts 5-6 hours. The name of the lip liner is kind of ironic as it's far from hydrating but rather the opposite - matte as anything. The other three are Amorous, Persistence and Whirl!

A product that is definitely worth the hype is Maybelline's Leather Effect Color Tattoos. I use the shade Creamy Beige and it's only after using them for a year, that I've hit pan on it! I use the color tattoo as a base for my eyeshadows as I have oily eyelids and this makes sure that my eyeshadow doesn't crease and stay put all day, even during a cheeky nap! Freedom Eyebrow Pomade is one that I purchase a month ago and I loooove it. I put off buying Anastasia's Brow Pomade as it's £15 and if the colour didn't suit me or I didn't like it then I would have wasted a lot of money. I have the Freedom Eyebrow Pomade in Dark Brown which I feel is a bit light for me but it's nothing brow gel can't fix. Once this post runs out/dries out, I'll definitely purchase it in the next shade up which is Ebony. This costs just £5 and I'd highly recommend it to everyone!

My go-to mascaras this year have been Maybelline Lash Sensational and Essence I Heart Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara. The Maybelline mascara has short bristles on one side, whereas the Essence mascara only have short bristles which I feel help in making my lashes look longer and thicker.

About a month ago, I bought the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette and am so obsessed with this palette. Mood Exposure is the perfect blush shade for me and I use Diffused Light to set my undereye area. Dim Light is the perfect powder to set your entire face with as it just makes your skin looks a thousand times better while still looking like your skin! Another favourite blush of mine this year was NARS Deep Throat which is in my Virtual Domination Palette. This is a gorgeous coral-ly pink shade with some gold shimmers running through it and it would look beautiful on all skintones.

What were some of your beauty favourites of 2015?
